I have trouble knitting in black - especially when I'm not in bright light - so I usually just knit my boyfriend's socks in Bare fingering weight, then dye them black in a big pot afterwards. I've learned over time that by dyeing white yarn black, I make many more pairs of socks for him than I would otherwise. Good luck!

You can also knit beanies out of Swish pampas heather for the army. What a gorgeous, soft beanie I'm working on for my son. I've already finished a pair of socks in Lemongrass Heather for my older son and a pair in Moss for my younger son, both of whom are in the Army. They're in the field and really love the heavyweight boot socks. And, their buddies are making requests....keep that great yarn coming!!!

Kelly, Is Jonathon a Swarthmore grad? My youngest Macy is at Swat right now. I showed her this pic of Jonathon and she thought she recognized him. She is a Junior this year. Any chance he recently graduated? I will keep him in my prayers.

Xena is my 8-year old Pomeranian. She is with me all the time with the exceptions of trips to countries with pet quarantines. So, I have lots of opportunities to take photos of her!
